SCRIBO La Dotta Acquerello Fountain Pen
SCRIBO La Dotta Acquerello Fountain Pen. Watercolor painting (Acquerello) is a long-standing tradition in Bologna. The city is home to several renowned art schools and artists, including the “Scuola di Belle Arti” and the “Accademia di Belle Arti”.
Watercolor is a versatile technique that can be used to create a variety of effects, from delicate landscapes to vibrant abstracts. Artists in Bologna have used watercolor to capture the beauty of their city, from its porticoes and canals to its hills and vineyards.
Some of Bologna’s best-known watercolorists include Giovanni Segantini, Pelagio Palagi, and Giorgio Morandi. Today, the watercolor tradition in Bologna continues. The city is home to a few galleries and museums exhibiting works by watercolorists, including National Picture Gallery, Museum of Modern Art and Gallery of Modern Art.
LA DOTTA Acquerello is an explosion of colors that reproduces the nuances and shades of watercolor painting, applied by hand combining the techniques of two arts, the airbrushing, fundamental for creating the base, and the more pictorial one of watercolor which represents the true protagonist of this process: each individual piece is handmade and is therefore unique, with a texture that cannot be repeated on another model. LA DOTTA Acquerello is made in only 99 pieces with platinum finish. | SCRIBO | SCRIBO La Dotta
TWO STORIES, ONE FAITH
This is a story of passion for Italian craftsmanship tradition, a story of dreamers who decide to go on an adventure that rebels against destiny in order to write a different future. Before founding SCRIBO, we joined Omas in the second half of the 2000s, when the historic brand of Bolognese writing instruments, founded in 1925 by Armando Simoni, was already a well-recognized international player for fountain pen enthusiasts thanks to a unique design and to high quality of its nibs.
Thanks to its high quality products, all handmade at the Bologna factory, Omas captures the attention of main luxury market operating multinational groups and thus becomes part of the sparkling galaxy of the LVMH French group, which acquires the Company from the founder’s family in 2000. Then, in late 2007, a Chinese group acquires the 90% of Omas. Because of the global economic crisis, which took place between 2008 and 2010, Omas is progressively deprived of the needed to grow investment until the shareholder decides to cease the business. Despite our attempt to purchase the historic brand from the Chinese group, Omas actually ceases its business at the dawn of 2016. SCRIBO was born on that precise moment and, with same passion, we started to tell a story of tradition, craftsmanship and made in Italy.
SCRIBO is therefore a young brand with a great history behind that was born thanks to our great passion for writing instruments and from the valuable collaboration of some former Omas employees. Our goal is to light up the essence of writing instruments, in particular the fountain pen and handwriting. Thanks to our previous experience and surrounded by the Bologna territory, which has cradled the tradition of mechanical writing instruments, we have created a laboratory that hosts two different complementary activities: the production of instruments and accessories for handwriting, with strong design and exclusively “Made in Italy” craftsmanship on one side; the disclosure of the handwriting benefits through calligraphy courses with specialized partners on the other. We strongly believe in handwriting and we want to place it at the center of our project because we think that nibs, paper and inkwell are the most faithful tools and the window to the soul of those who write with them.
