The pattern concept of this unique fountain pen was inspired by a flame in the darkness and is fitted with the celebrated Naginata-Togi nib created with Sailor artisanship. We hope you will enjoy the writing experience created by a combination of the warm feel of ebonite and the smooth performance of the Naginata-Togi nib.

Ebonite: It is renowned as the world’s oldest artificial resin, a hard rubber like material. It is a black-brown rubber with a rich luster, and was named after “Ebony” because of its appearance. Although difficult to process, it is a traditional material for fountain pen which has excellet ink corrosion resistance. Ebonite is a natural material and therefore very occasionally foreign substances and/ or pin holes may be observed. This is part of the character of the material and should not be regarded as a defect.

Naginata-Togi nib: Naginat nib, is specially designed with a larger pen point with a longer stroke that provide ultimate smoothness. The nib provides broader strokes on the horizontal and finer stroke on the vertical. Also, the Naginata nib provides writing line-widths much broader than would normally be expected. About Sailor

In 1911, Mr. Kyugoro Sakata, an engineer from the historic seaport of Hiroshima, picked up a fountain pen brought from England by a sailor friend. Fascinated by what he held, he decided to become the one to produce exquisitely crafted writing instruments in Japan of the highest specification and writing performance. Mr. Sakata decided to establish the Sailor Pen Company with the expectation that the business would expand internationally as a sailor travels. Thus, the company became the first to start production of writing instruments in Japan and is still one of the oldest with high-quality writing products worldwide.
